• Cannabinoids (Click for more Info) – Cannabinoids are chemical compounds which activate cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. Phytocannabinoids are the natural form of these chemicals found in the female cannabis plant’s trichomes, a resin gland on the surface of the flower. There are at least 85 different cannabinoids isolated from varies strains – though most of them appear in negligible amounts.
• Terpenes (Click for more Info) – Terpenes are the fragrance molecules which emanate from all plants – including cannabis, which offers a unique scent from one strain to the next. Terpenes are believed to exhibit medicinal properties independent from the cannabinoids.
• Decarboxylation – Decarboxylation is the conversion of a cannabinoid from its acid form to its neutral form, which occurs during heat exposure. For example, Delta-9-THC is the result of THC-A (‘A’ for acid) decarboxylating. The difference? Only ∆9-THC causes the euphoric sensation associated with cannabis and THC-A is not psychoactive! ∆9- THC is the best way to measure a cannabis product’s psychoactive potency, and a typical cannabis plant contains about 13% to 25%.
